Rochdale Underpass – UK Rail Industry Award Finalist!
The Annual UK Rail Industry Awards were held on Thursday 11th February 2016. The Jamieson project team attended a glittering awards show at Battersea Gardens in London, along with Network Rail, Mott McDonald and framework partners Transport for Greater Manchester. Our recently completed Project at Rochdale Underpass was a nominated finalist for Outstanding Project for less than 3 Million.
Reopening the dilapidated Victorian underpass has been a project that has been on the drawing board for a long time. Jamieson Contracting commenced the construction phase in January 2015. The restoration of the underpasses heritage features, such as ornate railings and ceramic tiled walls gave the project a unique finish compared with modern installations throughout the rest of Greater Manchester. The project was completed and opened to the project in July 2015 and now provides a safe route between the TfGM Park and Ride Facility off Miall Street and Rochdale Railway Station and the local Metrolink stop.
The evening was a fantastic opportunity to meet and network with industry leaders and celebrate what is great about the Construction and Infrastructure Sector. Sadly, Rochdale Underpass was pipped at the post by London Underground, but the Project celebrated the group success of the project and are determined to come back next year, bigger, better and stronger!
